Cruise Reviews – how to organise a group cruise
You might never have considered becoming the organiser of a group cruise, but there are good reasons why you should:
Cruise companies adore group bookings because it’s as easy to organise the booking for a group of sixteen or forty as for a single person or couple – as a result, and because it means the ship fills up nice and fast, they tend to give you some great deals, perks and freebies for the same cost, for example upgraded accommodations, a complimentary bottle of wine or champagne, special stateroom gifts, on-board credits, a complimentary cocktail party or a free shore excursion. checking out what other people have been given as a deal. Then be tough enough to bargain with the cruise line and ask for more than their first offer!
All cruise lines will offer you free beds (called berths) for booking a group cruise. With some lines, and on less popular cruises, this can be a little as one free berth for every five booked, but usually you have to book around 15 berths to get a free one – and then you have a choice to make: either dividing the savings on a ‘free’ berth between all the members of your group as a sort of extra discount or you can enjoy a ‘free’ cruise!
